Preparations for this year’s Middletown Village Show are hotting up with entertainment including pig racing, vintage bikes, It’s a Knockout, craft stalls and lots more.

This year’s show, in the village of Middletown near Welshpool on the A458, will take place on Saturday, July 11, starting at 2pm.

Entertainment includes a new addition this year – Pig racing. Local individuals and companies have sponsored each of the eight pig races – and betting will take place on each race so there should be plenty of noise created! The Middletown Fell Run will also start from the showground for the first time this year at 3pm – 5 miles with 1.100 ft of climbing!

Jester Jack Green will also perform various circus skills, alongside a host of other activities and events, including vintage bikes, children’s sports, bouncy castles, craft stalls, tug of war competitions, The Young Farmers  “It’s a Knockout” and lots more.

The Local WI help to organise the range of competitions for adults and children that are judged on the day – including everything from the longest nettle, heaviest crop from one potato planted to more traditional classes of floral art and cookery.

Refreshments are available all day including a bar serving Real Ale, as well as cakes, tea and coffee.

Visitors are also invited to bring along their four-legged friends on the day to enter the dog show, sponsored by Paws ‘n’ Claws.  There will be a trophy for the overall winner, as well as class rosettes.

Entry to the picturesque Middletown Village Show, is only £3 entry (free for children under 11) and is followed by a hog roast and disco on the site from 6pm.

A few spaces for trade stands and craft stalls are still available and must be pre-booked. Competition entry details and closing dates along with all show information can be found on the website at www.middletownshow.co.uk

The show was resurrected in 2009 following a 50 year gap and is now sponsored by local groups -Middletown WI, Caradog YFC, Middletown Village Hall and Gt Wollaston PCC.
