A popular Shropshire café is promising fright fans a fangtastic day at a special Halloween dog show.
The Lockside Café at Grindley Brook, near Whitchurch is staging the event on October 18, with three separate classes for spooky pups and their owners to take part in.
It’s the latest in a series of events at the café, which has faced a fight for survival since the closure of the Llangollen Canal in Whitchurch last Christmas.
Café owner Jane Beaumont said: “Our community events have been a real lifeline since the canal breach at the end of last year and we are really looking forward to combining all the fun of Halloween with our latest dog show.
“The café is a popular spot with dog walkers so we are delighted to be able to put on events which help them show off their pets in a fun way.”
The show gets under way at 1pm with a class for dogs in the best scary costume, followed by a best trick or treat round at 1.30pm and the best Halloween costume from a movie for both dogs and their owners at 2pm.
Jane said all the winners would get prizes and that owners should register at the café ahead of the event.
“Our previous shows have been well attended and we hope the Halloween theme will prove equally popular this time around. It should be a great afternoon and one our four-legged friends will enjoy just as much as their humans.”
The Lockside Café sits alongside the A41 just outside Whitchurch and is open daily from 9am to 5pm.
