Shropshire lawyers at FBC Manby Bowdler have retained top rankings and earned new recognition in the UK’s leading guide to the country’s best lawyers.

The Legal 500 2027 rankings, published this week, once again place the firm’s Shrewsbury-led agriculture and estates team and its family team at the top of the regional rankings.

Telford-based family lawyer Elizabeth Harris-Clark moved up to Leading Partner, one of the highest rankings a lawyer can achieve in the guide after she was recognised for work on financial cases involving overseas assets and on pre and post-nuptial agreements. Family lawyer Philip Cowell was also named a Next Generation Partner for the first time.

Shrewsbury-based partners Sarah Baugh and Tom Devey retained their Leading Partner rankings for agriculture and estates, while Megan Jackson (née Price) was named a Leading Associate for the first time.

Neil Lloyd, chief executive of FBC Manby Bowdler and Adeptio Law Group, said: “The Legal 500 rankings are always eagerly awaited, as they reflect how our clients and peers see us. To see our Shropshire teams keep their top rankings and Elizabeth, Megan and Philip recognised is fantastic.

“We have been looking after families, farms and businesses across Shropshire for generations. As the firm grows across the region, that commitment to the county and to the stellar service our clients expect stays the same.”

The guide highlights the team’s work on landed estates, farming business structures, succession planning, agricultural tenancies and diversification, with one client praising its pragmatic approach and awareness of ‘the rural background on which we operate’.

Graham Fuller retained his Leading Partner ranking for personal tax, trusts and probate, with Christopher Bate retaining his Next Generation Partner ranking.

Planning partner Suzanne Tucker, retained her Next Generation Partner ranking and the firm’s commercial property team was also ranked for the first time for its work across the West Midlands region, which includes Shropshire.

Published annually, the Legal 500 is based on independent research including interviews and client feedback. It highlights the practice area teams providing the most cutting-edge and innovative advice.
