Cycling has captured the nation's imagination with Team GB's fantastic success on the road and in the Velodrome at the 2012 London Olympics.
A haul of eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals has been won by the cycling team so far, records have been broken and there are stories across the country of more people taking up cycling after cheering on GB’s cyclists in front of their TV screens.

Now The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is giving its staff a chance to take up cycling as part of a scheme which encourages them to bike to work.
The Cycle to Work Scheme has been relaunched at the Trust and will run until 21 September, 2012.

The scheme gives staff an opportunity to purchase brand new bikes through a reduction in their salary over a 12 month period or time remaining on their contract. Bikes can be sourced through local bike shops or by mail order as part of the scheme, which is run through the national Bikes for NHS initiative.

It encourages staff to ensure they are getting regular exercise as part of the Trust’s commitment to supporting the Health and Wellbeing of employees. It is just one of the initiatives at the Trust which supports staff Health and Wellbeing.

Bridget Chambers, HR Manager at The Trust, said: “We’re delighted to have relaunched the Cycle to Work Scheme which will benefit our staff and has proved popular in the past.

“There’s plenty of interest in cycling at the moment and we hope our staff who have been captivated by the fantastic achievements of our cyclists at what has been an outstanding Olympic Games in London will take part in this scheme which offers excellent value for money.

“The Health and Wellbeing of our staff is extremely important to us and this is just one of the ways we are supporting this.”
