A view from the timelapse footage 2

A Shropshire-based video production company has been commissioned by Grocontinental of Whitchurch, one of the UK’s leading storage and distribution organisations, to produce a time-lapse film which captures the entire construction of its latest multi-million warehouse.

7video teamed up with the company to record the four-month build phase of the organisation’s new 5,000 m2 warehouse using time-lapse film technology.

The result is an innovative and creative film that Grocontinental has used to showcase its new warehouse to customers, media and staff. A time-lapse camera was mounted on an adjacent warehouse to record the whole process, and was monitored and maintained each month by the 7video team. The footage was enhanced by the use of 7video’s new drone camera which produced dramatic shots inside the new building once racking had been installed.

Peter Sims, Managing Director of 7video, explained: “Our partnership with Grocontinental enabled us to be really creative and produce a completely unique film. Time-lapse footage is great for this type of project and offers a completely unique perspective, capturing the entire four-month process second by second. The project also allowed us to use a drone which enables us to capture aerial footage from very high up. This helps to give a sense of scale as well as showing where the warehouse is.”

Linda Grocott, Managing Director of Grocontinental, said: “This was the first time we’d looked at recording the build of one of our warehouses, and the team at 7video made what was potentially a complex project, very easy.

“The project involved an initial on-site survey to identify the best position for the camera to be sited.  This turned out to be 60ft up on the side of an existing warehouse which necessitated installation of a special bracket to hold the camera, and monthly lifts to the camera for maintenance and to download footage. 7video’s ‘can-do’ approach to the project, together with excellent project management skills and creative work with the footage, produced a great film which was well-received by our customers, trade press and staff.”
