Methodist church and chapel set to answer buyers’ prayers at May auction

Prospective buyers who have dreamed of converting a disused church or chapel into a home or business may have their prayers answered at a Shropshire auction next month.

Leading regional auctioneers and estate agents Halls include two former Methodist places of worship with conversion potential in the next 16-lot collective property and land auction at their Shrewsbury headquarters on May 1 at 2pm.

Bettisfield Methodist Church, Cadney Lane, Bettisfield, near Whitchurch and Blackford Methodist Chapel, Thorn Lane, Stoke Street, Milborough near Ludlow carry guide prices of £30,000 to £40,000 and £10,000 to £20,000, respectively.

The primitive Methodist Ebeneezer Chapel was built in 1879 and retains numerous interesting features, including a vaulted ceiling and timber pulpit. The height of the chapel makes a second floor possible.
