Two of Shropshire’s most respected independent estate agency businesses, Mannleys and Samuel Wood, have announced a strategic merger to create a larger, ambitious, regionally focused property group, with clear plans for growth and further acquisitions.
The newly formed Mannleys Group brings together the experience, reach and expertise of both firms, strengthening coverage across Shropshire and the wider region and creating what directors call a “progressive, forward-thinking property business built for the future.”
Importantly, the merger is firmly growth-led, with both businesses performing strongly and expecting to recruit as the combined group expands.
Directors described the move as a “long-term investment in the regional property market, designed to enhance service rather than consolidate operations.”
Leadership for the Next Phase of Growth
The combined executive leadership team includes Co-Directors of Samuel Wood Russell Griffin and Andrew Cadwallader and Co-Directors of Mannleys, Aaron Manley and Chris Mann.
Together, the board will lead the next phase of growth across both sales and lettings, combining their local knowledge with ambitious regional expansion plans.
A Complementary Fit Strengthening the County
The merger brings together two highly complementary businesses. Samuel Wood has built a strong presence across Shrewsbury, Ludlow and South Shropshire, while Mannleys has established itself in Telford and surrounding markets.
By combining these strengths, the newly formed Mannleys Group now offers broader county coverage, a significantly larger buyer and tenant database, and a deeper, more experienced leadership structure, enhancing its ability to serve clients across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
The expanded footprint now spans Shrewsbury, Telford, Ludlow, South Shropshire, North Shropshire and surrounding rural areas, alongside gateway markets into the wider Midlands, with four physical offices and several hubs. This positions the new group as one of the leading independent sales and lettings businesses operating across the county.
A Carefully Managed Brand Evolution
The businesses will retain their well-established local identities, with evolving branding and be known following the immediate merger as:
- Telford — Mannleys
- Shrewsbury — Mannleys with Samuel Wood
- Ludlow and South Shropshire — Samuel Wood with Mannleys
This approach protects trusted local brands while establishing a stronger, regionally positioned property group, balancing heritage with forward-looking ambition.
Stronger Coverage, Greater Capability
The merger significantly enhances capability across the region, including:
- Strengthened lettings and property management services
- Wider buyer and tenant reach
- Increased marketing capability
- Greater investment in digital marketing and technology
- Enhanced resources to support sellers, landlords and tenants.
The combination of a wider geographic coverage, experienced teams and increased investment capacity, will enable the group to deliver a broader reach while maintaining the independence and service levels both brands are known for.
Clear Strategy for Immediate and Long-Term Growth
Immediate priorities for Mannleys Group include integration of systems and services, recruitment and team expansion, enhanced regional marketing reach, and the launch of a new combined website later this year.
Looking further ahead, the group has outlined ambitions for continued brand development, ongoing investment in digital marketing and people, and the exploration of further acquisitions across Shropshire and neighbouring areas.
Directors said the merger was growth-led, with both businesses performing strongly and expecting to recruit as the combined group expands. We see this as a long-term investment in the regional property market, designed to enhance service rather than consolidate operations.”
Director Commentary:
Chris Mann said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Mannleys to join forces with Samuel Wood. Both independent and respected businesses share similar values and a strong commitment to service, and by working together we can create a more proactive and ambitious company for sellers, landlords and tenants across Shropshire and the wider region. By combining our teams and experience, we are building a business with genuine momentum and clear ambitions for further growth.”
Andrew Cadwallader added: “This merger will create a progressive, forward-thinking property business built for the future. By combining our strengths, we are creating a more dynamic and capable company, with improved coverage and greater resources to support our clients. We are particularly excited about the opportunities this creates for growth across the region and the ability to continue building a modern, forward-thinking agency that remains firmly focused on service and results.”
“We also see this as a platform for future acquisitions and continued growth across Shropshire and neighbouring areas. The Group will be better positioned to showcase Shropshire homes to a broader audience and support sellers and landlords with an enhanced service,” he said.
