At a recent plaque unveiling ceremony, the Mayor of Wellington, Cllr Phil Morris-Jones officially opened 14 new homes at Stretton Court, Wellington.

Over 40 guests attended the ceremony to celebrate the completion of the new market rent homes for Severn Homes, a division of Severnside Housing, including local residents, Councillors, contractors and Severnside staff.

Wellington’s Mayor, Cllr Phil Morris-Jones MBE said “I welcome this outstanding development by Severn Homes, on what locals know as the old Wrekin Road School.  They have preserved and renovated the old school and in the process built a small number of high quality homes near to the centre of Wellington and close to the natural beauty of the Wrekin.  Severnside Housing has clearly lived up to its vision of providing Excellent Homes in Thriving Communities."

The new 1, 2 and 3 bedroom market rent homes, built on the former Wrekin Road School site, have proved extremely popular and are already fully let.

Peter Donovan, Resources Director at Severn Homes said “Severn Homes is extremely proud of the high quality new homes, built to address housing need in the local area.  We are particularly pleased to have been able to convert the much loved former school, retaining its landmark bell tower.”

Alan Day from Days New Homes Ltd also commented “We are delighted to have worked alongside Severn Homes in the production of this exciting residential development in the heart of Wellington.  We received many favourable comments from local residents during the works, both appreciating the retention of the original landmark building itself, and its subsequent restoration and conversion into a number of characterful individual homes.”
