The Hive, a registered charity and a town centre arts & creative venue are organising a very special charity fundraising event at Shrewsbury Prison on Saturday 15th October 2016 at 7pm. The event, called ‘Jailhouse Rock’ will include an Elvis tribute act, two local bands, a special silent disco, mugshot corner, DJ and special animated light projection by Andy McKeown.

The event will raise funds for the Hive to help the work the charity does with local children & young people. Thanks to the Hive’s recent grant from Arts Council England’s Catalyst Evolve programme, any profits raised can be matched pound for pound, so if the evening raises £1,000 – it is actually worth £2,000 to the charity.

Camilla Stewart, a Hive Board Member and Chair of the Fundraising Task Group says: “This unique event will give people the opportunity to see and experience Shrewsbury Prison like never before. As the Hive often uses music in their projects to work with children & young people, we thought a musical evening would be a perfect match and also give local bands the chance to perform. The fact that we can also double any funds raised with the Arts Council England grant is wonderful news and a real motivation for us to create a fantastic evening for everyone to enjoy. We hope that people will buy tickets to this event as it will be fun!”

In addition to an Elvis tribute act, the evening will include performances from two excellent local bands; ‘Microbaby’ and ‘Two Blank Pages’. The activities will kick off at 7pm with the first band starting at 8pm. Tickets are £25 per person and include an Aberdeen Angus burger or a veggie burger and a drink. The event is for over 18’s only. Guests will also be able to enjoy a unique animated light projection by internationally known projection light & digital artist Andy McKeown.

Andy McKeown says: "I am delighted to work with and support the Hive at this event. The opportunity to create an interior light installation in the Shrewsbury Prison complex for “Jailhouse Rock” was too good to pass up, and I am really looking forward to breaking some light over the amazing interior structure of the building."

Tickets can be purchased from the Hive as well as online; www.hiveonline.org.uk
