Derwen College is getting ready to welcome visitors back for its much-loved Fete and Dog Show, bringing together stalls, competitions, a duck race and plenty of four-legged fun at the Gobowen campus on Saturday 13 June.

From 10am to 4pm, visitors to the specialist college, near Oswestry, can enjoy a relaxed day out with entertainment for all ages.

Dogs take centre stage in the ever-popular dog show, with fun classes ranging from Most Handsome to Waggiest Tail and Super Clever. Entry is £2 per category. Registration opens at 10am and judging begins at 11.30am. The dog show is kindly sponsored by Oswestry raw animal food business Duffy’s Diner.

Inside the College’s large Reception area, visitors can also enter the village show-style arts and crafts competitions. Categories for both children and adults span recycled art, crafts, photography, cookery and flower arranging, with entry at £2 per competition.

Visitors can also browse the College’s award-winning Marketplace, including the Garden Centre and Gift Shop, the Vintage Advantage Charity Shop and the Walled Garden Café. The Orangery Restaurant will be serving traditional cream teas.

And, for those who love a bit of friendly rivalry, the Duck Race returns – giving individuals and sponsoring businesses the chance to choose their duck and cheer it on down the stream to the finish.

A host of local sellers will be on site with everything from artisanal treats to handcrafted gifts. Families can also enjoy Derwen-made ice creams, a barbecue and bar, plus games and a tombola.

A grand raffle will be held with a brilliant line-up of prizes, including family tickets to Just So Festival in Cheshire and Shrewsbury Folk Festival, plus a hotel stay, paintballing, paddleboarding, a spa day and plenty more. This year, you can buy tickets online to support the College at https://charity.derwen.ac.uk/raffle/derwen-college-grand-raffle.
