Celebrity chef, Marcus Bean, got up especially early last Friday morning and headed to the Greenhous Stadium to judge the assortment of cakes and biscuits that had been created to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.
Shrewsbury business group BNI, and Shrewsbury Town Football Club teamed up to host a MacMillan Coffee Morning, but also went head-to-head in a ‘bake-off’!
Marcus said: 'I was delighted to be invited along to judge the Macmillan ‘bake-off’ event last Friday and support such a worthy charity. The standard of baking was fantastic and made my job even more difficult! Well done to everyone for their efforts and providing such delicious cakes!'
Marcus chose a Lemon Drizzle cake baked by Michelle Ealey, from BNI, as his winning bake!
Fundraising continued after the event with the players from Shrewsbury Town also getting involved – and cakes being taken to places of work to be sold for even more money! The final total raised was £220.
