Candy carts, photo booths and even Batman and Robin will make an appearance at a Shropshire wedding fayre with a twist in the new year.
There will of course be the usual bridal gowns and traditional wedding services on show but be prepared for a few more tiaras, heels and prom dresses as staff at the Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel and Spa launch its Winter Wedding and Prom Fayre on January 17.
It’s the first time the hotel, located on Ellesmere Road, has doubled up to create a joint event to appeal to newly engaged couples and school leavers.
But, with the UK prom trend growing year on year staff are expecting a high turnout of school sixth formers to attend.
Hotel general manager Jennifer Sibbald-Wall said: “We are very excited about the event on January 17.
“It’s the first time we have combined a wedding and prom fayre so we are expecting a range of visitors from school leavers to newly engaged couples.
“And, with 30 plus exhibitors attending to showcase their products and services from candy carts to Lamborghinis there will be something for everyone.
“Gone are the days of high school leavers settling for an end of term disco in the school hall, nowadays it’s all about the prom.
“This is a major event in the calendar to celebrate the end of exam season and the boys and girls are out to impress with their prom dresses, stretch limousines and corsages.
“Often it’s the sixth formers who organise their own prom event and our Winter fayre will give them some fantastic ideas.
“We will have everything from magicians to light up dance floors and even Batman and Robin.
“Couples looking to get married in the near future will also not be short of ideas for celebrating the big day with exhibitors including florists, photographers, videographers – you name it and they’ll all be here.
“We will also have some great giveaways and competitions including the chance to win a prom dress and a voucher towards the cost of hiring a sports car. It should be a fantastic day and we look forward to welcoming visitors.”
The Wedding and Prom Fayre, organised by Autumn Kapal of The Shropshire Wedding Centre, will take place between 11am and 4pm.
Albrighton Hall Hotel is a four star hotel with 87 bedrooms, set in 15 acres of landscaped gardens.
It can cater for up to 250 wedding guests and the Inspirations Spa and leisure facilities have recently undergone a complete refurbishment.
