A stately home on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border is toasting success after scooping an international gin medal – just three years after distilling its first bottle.

Weston Park’s Walled Garden Rhubarb Gin was awarded bronze in the England Country Flavoured Gin category at the prestigious World Gin Awards 2026.

The distinctive gin is produced by distiller Sam Moseley at Wrekin Spirit, just a few miles from the Weston estate, and uses rhubarb grown in the stately home’s restored walled garden.

Martin Page, general manager at Weston Park, said: “This recognition is a testament to our fantastic team, to Wrekin Spirit, and to our estate‑to‑plate ethos. It proves that gin made with homegrown produce really is delicious.

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to Sam Moseley at Wrekin Spirit, whose guidance, innovation and craftsmanship go into every single bottle of our gin.”

The World Gin Awards are regarded as one of the leading global competitions in the spirits industry, attracting entries from across the world.

Chair of judges David Smith said: “It’s been another incredible year. What excites me most is the increasing quality and innovation we are seeing across categories, countries and continents. The passion for creating and sharing quality spirits is truly alive and well.”

The medal marks a remarkable milestone in Weston Park’s growing gin story, which began in 2023 with the launch of its first spirit, Butler’s Blend, a London Dry gin made using botanicals sourced from across the estate.

Seasonal editions followed – Winter Spice and Citrus Burst – along with a series of limited‑edition fruit‑infused gins including strawberry, rhubarb and damson, all made using produce grown on the estate.

The Walled Garden Rhubarb Gin is available to purchase from the Granary Restaurant at Weston Park, priced at £30 per bottle.
