An award-winning classical music quartet will perform in Shrewsbury on May 8.
The Carducci Quartet is internationally acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles of today.
Appearing at St Alkmund’s Church from 7.30pm, their concert is part of the Shropshire Music Trust programme and will feature celebrated pianist Simon Callaghan.
John Moore, musical director of the Shropshire Music Trust, said: “We are pleased to announce that the dynamic Carduccis will team up once again with young international star Simon Callaghan.
“Simon played with the quartet in our 2023-24 season and their wonderful performance prompted a standing ovation.”
Founded in 1997, the ensemble was a prize winner at numerous international competitions, including the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and Finland’s Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition.
They have been described as presenting ‘a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose, in which severity could melt seamlessly into charm, and drama into geniality’.
The programme at St Alkmund’s will include Dmitri Shostakovich: Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57; Caroline Shaw: Entr’acte and Robert Schumann: Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44.
