Euro 2016 fever arrives early in Shropshire with themed soccer schools during next week's half term – and Wales star Dave Edwards, the Wolves midfielder, will make a special appearance to meet youngsters attending the courses.

Crossbar Coaching Education in Sport, renowned for its popular school holiday clubs, is gearing up for a busy week of soccer schools, multi-sports courses and dance camps around the county for youngsters aged between five and 13.

The themed soccer schools will take place at Shrewsbury's London Road Sports Centre and Telford's Lawley Primary School between Monday, February 15 and Wednesday, February 17.

"The theme for the soccer schools will be Euro 2016 and it's great that Dave will be sparing the time to come along to both venues," said Gavin Cowan, the director of Crossbar.

"With Wales and England being drawn against each other this summer, it's a really exciting time and we've come up with some great themed exercises and tournaments for the children next week."

Multi-sports courses will run at the London Road Sports Centre from Monday to Friday next week while there will also be a dance camp at the same venue for three days from Monday.

A three-day street dance course will take place at Telford's Hollinswood Primary School from next Monday while holiday clubs are planned throughout next week at Shrewsbury's Greenfields Primary School, Oakmeadow Primary School in Bayston Hill, Pontesbury Primary School, Telford's Old Park and Redhill Primary Schools, Moordale Primary School in Newport and Broseley C of E Primary School.

"There's plenty of variety again to keep children active and stimulated during half term," added Gavin. "The holiday clubs are ideal for youngsters who want to be active, creative and just be part of a fun environment really.

"Our soccer schools, dance camps and multi-sports courses are always well attended and we are excited and looking forward to another great week."
