Crossbar all set for Christmas holiday courses

It's been another record-breaking year for Shropshire's Crossbar Coaching Education in Sport as they look forward to staging popular holiday clubs around the county in the countdown to Christmas.

The Shrewsbury-based company continue to grow as they deliver sport across the curriculum to nearly 40 county schools while they have also branched out across the Shropshire border to work with schools in Eccleshall and Kidderminster.

Now Crossbar are excited to have the chance to add some festive fun for local youngsters with soccer schools, street dance, multi-sports and holiday clubs taking place between Monday, December 21 and Wednesday, December 23.

Gavin Cowan, director of Crossbar, said: "The run up to Christmas is a busy time for families and they know the time their children spend with us will be quality. The focus is always on fun and development and making sure that children enjoy themselves and pick up lots of life skills.

"Christmas is a really exciting time. We come up with brand new themes and ideas and as it's Christmas there will be even more competitions than usual with plenty of giveaways."

Soccer schools for boys and girls aged between five and 11 will be held at Shrewsbury's London Road Sports Centre and Telford's Lawley Primary School. They are also open to junior leaders in Years 7 and 8 at secondary school.

The London Road Sports Centre will also be the venue for dance and multi-sport courses, with street dance sessions lined up for Telford's Hollinswood Primary School.

Holiday clubs which offer such activities as fun games, multi-sports plus arts and craft are planned for Broseley C of E Primary School, Shrewsbury's Greenfields Primary School, Oakmeadow Primary School in Bayston Hill, Pontesbury Primary School, Telford's Old Park and Woodlands Primary Schools and Moorfield Primary School in Newport.

Gavin added the Christmas holiday courses were the perfect way to end what's been another successful year for Crossbar following a record-breaking summer which saw nearly 3,000 local youngsters attend one of their holiday clubs.

"It's been another amazing year," he said. "We're always looking to gradually develop and never want to compromise the quality of what we do. We're very proud of what we deliver and what children get out of it.

"The schools together with the children and their parents all see the value in what we do. We've got to make sure we keep coming up with new ideas to make it fresh. We always make sure the children are stimulated so we're very imaginative.

"We're working with nearly 40 schools now and you can only do that by delivering quality. We want to make that sustainable. We work with the children on a daily basis over a long period of times to see the benefits, so it's important that we maintain our high standards and ethos."

All of Crossbar's Christmas holiday clubs – prices start from just £7.50 per day – run from 9am to 3pm while half day slots are also available. Early and late pick ups are available an hour either side for an additional £2.50 each.

Crossbar Coaching Education in Sport is Ofsted registered and they also accept childcare vouchers.
