April 5th & 6th / Shrewsbury
After the much heralded success of the first Theatre of Blues Festival earlier this year, organisers are delighted to announce that in 2013, the festival will include an extra evening’s entertainment on Friday 5th April with the addition of The Lion Hotel as a venue as well as the Walker Theatre at Theatre Severn, which will host the bands on Saturday 6th April 2013.
It has also been revealed that a Battle of The Blues event will be held at The Ironworks in Oswestry to find a local band from Shropshire to open the proceedings on the Saturday at Theatre Severn. This will not only provide a unique opportunity to play on the prestigious Walker Theatre stage amongst a line-up of top blues musicians but also to an audience of nationwide blues enthusiasts.
Headliners for 2013 include from the USA Buddy Whittington, London based 24 Pesos and Dani Wilde from Brighton, who has just completed her Girls With Guitars tour in the States. Said organiser Andi Jones, “the first festival drew lots of positive comments and especially regarding the quality and variety of the line-up and so the emphasis was to follow that, which was a tall order but we’re thrilled to have such an exciting line-up of quality musicians”.
The full line-up for Friday night at The Lion Hotel on The Lion stage features Hooson, Cliff Stocker’s Legendary Slack Alice and 24 Pesos. Saturday at The Walker Theatre, Theatre Severn will open with the winner of the Shropshire Battle of The Blues, followed by Bex Marshall, Tim Aves Wolfpack, Fuschi 4, Dani Wilde and Buddy Whittington.
