I have it on very good authority – from an inside man, one might say – that Suzuki plan to introduce an all-electric vehicle in 2025. Quite what that vehicle will be however he wouldn’t, or couldn’t, say.       That’s not to say, that Suzuki aren’t currently doing their bit to help reduce fuel costs and CO2 emissions. All of Suzuki’s current passenger car range (note: The much beloved...

I know, I’ve said it before: If only every car manufacturer made seats like Volvo does. After what quickly became a 12-hour day after a poor night’s sleep, spent at The Goodwood 78th Member’s Meeting, the soft leather front seats of Volvo’s latest version of their XC60 were a very welcome site indeed - and especially-so with the seat heaters set to their maximum. By the time, we’d slithered...

There’s a list on my desk, of cars I’m trying book from various manufacturer’s press fleets, for review purposes over the coming months. My scribblings run to nine cars currently -no doubt I’ll add more - and with the exception of one electric city car and one slinky supercar (I’m a sucker for both), everything else I’ve written down, from Bentaygas to Qashqais, is SUV shaped.     It’s perhaps...

A quick Google search this evening seems to cast a doubt over whether the letters CR-V, as in Honda CR-V, stand for Compact Recreation Vehicle, or Comfortable Runabout Vehicle. Apparently, according to wikpedia (so perhaps we’ll never know for sure), Honda say it’s the latter: Comfortable Runabout Vehicle. Whereas the term Compact Recreation Vehicle was first used in a British car review...

Not so long ago we used to consider Kia as very much a budget brand, their cars the kind of things you would buy simply because you needed (rather than wanted) a cheap run-around – albeit always a cheerful and reliable one. Kia though had other ideas. They headhunted their now chief designer from Audi, and moved their design centre from their home in Korea to central Europe, so as to appeal...

You probably don’t need me to tell you that life is chock-full of compromises, and especially-so when it comes to buying the family car. As the driver you’ll no-doubt want something that does at least possess some potential to entertain; an element of involvement, after all, goes a long way. Running costs too need careful consideration; monthly payments, residual values, miles per gallon etc....

I can’t find my notes from when I drove the previous generation Nissan Juke, neither can I find a copy of the my review of it anywhere - presumably it was printed in what is now a long-defunct title. I do seem to remember though, that in 1.5 petrol form I thought the Juke was quite thirsty. I wasn’t particularly convinced about its styling either; a centre console designed to look a...

According to my notes, it’s approximately five years since I splashed around Land Rover’s Experience centre at the Heritage Motor Centre in what was then their all-new Discovery Sport.    Well, I say all new. The Discovery Sport may well have been a new model – and one that boasted 5+2 seating too – but the truth of the matter was, like it’s smaller Evoque sibling too,  it owed more than a...

If ever there was a name to evoke images of neat little British post-war sports-cars, then surely it would be MG. Their famous octagonal badge has graced the radiators of some of the most instantly recognisable roadsters ever built; perfect Sunday morning soft-tops such the T-type, the Midget, the MGA, probably most famously the MGB and MGBGT, the rarer MGC,  and the relatively more recent...

No car manufacturer these days is without a selection of SUVs in its line-up, and everyone from Aston Martin to Volvo are getting in in the act. But then who can blame them? So called Sports Utility Vehicles are definitely, currently, where the money is. So surely, the bigger the choice you offer, the bigger your potential profit.     Think about, luxury brands aside, most mainstream motor...
