I’ve been driving Land Rovers since way before it was actually legal for me to do so. I’ve towed trailers all over the North West with them, I’ve driven to parties in them, I’ve driven to work and then worked out of them back of them, I’ve done the weekly shop in them. And long before I could even reach the pedals in them, I’ve spent what must account for months of my life sat in the middle...

You’re probably familiar with Jaguar’s F-Pace by now, their first foray into the premium SUV market is also their best seller. Like Porsche, Jaguar actually shift more 4x4s these days than they do sportscars. The purists may baulk at the idea, but clearly the faux-by-four is what makes the big money these days.
It’s no wonder then, that, keen to cash–in ever further, Jaguar have now also...

It’s the noise you remember most. Long after you’ve pressed the button that switches the F-Type R’s engine off, and long after the exhaust system has stopped pinging itself cool, the sound of Jaguar’s 5.0 litre supercharged V8 lingers long in the air.
It shatters the morning silence on start-up – four trumpet-like tailpipes playing a fanfare that signals your departure – before settling...

If you’ve set you heart on a mid-size SUV as your next set of wheels you probably don’t need me to tell you your choice is seemingly endless. And with the SUV market predicted to expand by another 20% over the next five years you can safely bet it’s going to get even bigger still.
This is latest offering for those after the ruggedly handsome, looks-like-it-will-go-anywhere, high-riding...

Figures were never really my strong-point, so let’s get them out of the way first shall we?
Ferrari’s GTC4Lusso is a 680bhp, 12 cylinder, 4 seater, 4 wheel-drive, 4 wheel-steer, 0-62 in 3.4 seconds, 0-125 mph in 10.5 seconds, 208 mph all-out super-coupe. It weighs 1,920kg, has a 7 speed dual-clutch gearbox (in fact it has 2 gearboxes, we’ll get to that later), and is nearly 5 metres...

From January onwards you’ll no longer be able to walk into your local Volkswagen dealer and order a 3-door Polo, they’re not going to make them anymore. You can’t buy a 3-door version of the new SEAT Ibiza either, or the Skoda Fabia for that matter either. As people downsize (and ironically cars get bigger) the people in (the predominately German) suits have declared that there’s no longer a...

When Porsche announced they were going build their Cayman and their Boxster with four-cylinder engines rather than their more familiar (should I have said legendary?) flat-6, the car critics quite literally went into overdrive. “It’ll never feel as good”. “It’ll never sound as good”. “They’ve stolen its character”. “A Porsche with a 4 cylinder engine – it’s sacrilegious”. I’m paraphrasing of...

Don’t ever let it be said that we don’t fully test the cars we get here at Love Shrewsbury Towers. Due to an urgent appointment, within less than 48 hours of Audi dropping off their latest R8 Spyder its odometer was already showing an extra 400 miles. By the end of our week with it I’d added significantly more than that.
If it that’s not a testimony to the R8’s “everyday supercar” mantle...

I missed out last year out on the chance to join my fellow motor-noters in Montenegro for the launch of Jaguar’s all-new F-pace, my invitation seemingly “lost in the post”. Since then too, the chance to drive the F-Pace has eluded me. The coastal roads and forests near the Adriatic would’ve no-doubt proved to be the perfect playground in which to sample the all-wheel drive capabilities of...

As the popularity of Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) continues on its meteoric rise and their sales figures continue to climb the best seller charts pushing aside hatchbacks as they go, it’s almost all too easy to overlook the traditional family-orientated saloon car. For instance: Would you believe it if I were to tell you that these days BMW’s 3 Series outsells Ford’s Mondeo, or what if I...
