Carjackings are on the increase but it’s not just a city risk, a Shropshire security firm warned today.
It comes after West Midlands Police launched a crackdown on car crime late last year with nearly 600 arrests being made in a matter of weeks following what the crime commissioner described as an ‘epidemic’.
While the problem is more prevalent in city areas, bosses at Bulldog Security Products...

Think of a GT car and your thoughts quite naturally turn to the likes of 1960’s Aston Martins, Bentleys, Ferraris, and Jaguars; exquisite luxury leather-lined coupes with effortless power, sleek styling, and more-than-likely astronomical price-tags. GTs are cars in which an intercontinental drive would be a pleasure not a chore - GT stands for Grand Touring after all GTs. They’re the kind...

The last time I drove a Volkswagen up! (that ! may become annoying – apologies in advance) was soon after its launch. I declared it brilliant; an opinion I’ve kept ever since. I also thought its mechanically identical sisters, the SEAT Mii and the Skoda Citigo were excellent too, as was the similarly sized Hyundai i10 for that matter. It was the perception of VW’s final extra “polish”...

One of the oldest motorsport venues in the world is not perhaps the first place you’d think of when it comes to testing an all-new 5-door B-segment supermini from a mainstream manufacturer. Nevertheless, it was close by…
After the dash-mounted sat-nav in Citroen’s latest, and the 3rd generation of their best-seller, the C3 instructed my co-driver Wayne Gorrett and I to repeat yet...

The top step of the Monte Carlo Rally winner’s podium may have thus-far proved elusive for Skoda, despite many a valiant effort, but nevertheless numerous class wins in other equally arduous events - reliability meant that long before the Czech manufacturer became part of the VW group they took the under-1300cc trophy for seventeen years running in what was once known as the Lombard RAC –...

You may, like me, not have noticed the subtle face-lift Fiat gave their loveable little 500 last year. After 8 years of production and over 1.5 million sales, Centro Stile FIAT decided it was time to refresh both the 500’s exterior and interior, whilst retaining the unmistakable looks - that were so obviously inspired by the genius of what was the original Dante Giacosa rear-engined Nouva...

One look at what’s parked on your local High Street is probably all it takes to tell you that SUVs (that’s Sports Utility Vehicles) are proving rather popular these days. So popular in fact that for the first time, last year, sales of small and mid-sized SUVs, be they four–wheel drive or just those just pretending, out-sold hatchbacks. SUV registrations rose 24% in 2015 to 3.2 million, and it...

Ever since Alec Issigonis sketched what was to become the original (and still the best) mini on a napkin during dinner, nearly every small car you can think of has followed his layout of transversally front-mounted engine, front-wheel drive. There have been exceptions; Hillman’s Imp springs to mind immediately, partly because I had one; the original Fiat 500 too. And of course there was The...

As its name, or should I say its number suggests, the 108 is Peugeot’s replacement for their much loved 107, and, just like its predecessor was, it’s also part of an automotive trinity; Citroen’s new C1 and the new Toyota Aygo being the other members. All three come off the same production line and out of the same Slovakian factory, and all three are available in 3 or 5 door variants.
