Volunteer Week launched in Shrewsbury

Town Crier Martyn Wood, himself a family carer, was on hand to help Shropshire Rural Community Council launch national Volunteer Week in The Square at Shrewsbury.

Volunteer Week from 1st to 7th June recognises the contribution made by millions of unpaid helpers in all aspects of life across the UK, and voluntary groups from across the county arranged stalls showcasing the different volunteering roles on offer.

Clive Leworthy, of Shropshire RCC, said: “We have gathered these voluntary groups together to show people how they can get involved, offering taster sessions, volunteer recruitment events, launching new volunteering campaigns and organising awards ceremonies for volunteers throughout the county.”

Anybody wanting to get involved in any form of volunteering can obtain further information from Shropshire RCC on 01743 237872 or via the national website www.do-it.org.uk
