Valuation day for charity planned

A valuation evening which aims to boost a Shrewsbury charity is planned for next week.

The event, hosted by The Parade Shopping Centre in the town on May 6, will raise money for the Shrewsbury Street Pastors.

Organiser Andy Neal, owner of Salop Stamps in The Parade, in St Mary’s Place, said that local people were being invited along to get antiques and collectables such as jewellery, stamps, silver and medals examined by experts.

“I will be on hand to value items, along with auctioneers from Halls and the owners of two other shops in the Parade, DCM Antiques and PM Collectables” he said, adding that people would be asked to donate £1 to charity for each item valued.

“We hope to raise a decent amount for the Street Pastors, who are volunteers from a range of local churches. They do a fantastic job helping to make Shrewsbury a safer and more enjoyable place in the evenings and weekends, by assisting young people to get home safely.”

The valuation evening will run from 5pm until 9pm and will include free tea and coffee from The Snug café in The Parade, where there is some free parking.
