Triathlon Trio Achieve Success

A local trio is celebrating success after completing a gruelling triathlon and clocking up over 90 kilometres between them.

Leanne Garvey of Magnolia Memorials and one of few fully-qualified lady funeral directors in the county, Chris Garvey from G-Force Steam, and Selina of Moreton Park Garden Centre, recently completed the Harlech Triathlon, taking part in a 400metre swim, a 25kilometre bike ride and a 6kilometre run across the picturesque Welsh countryside.

Third-time triathlon goer Leanne Garvey took 1 hour 50 minutes and 17 seconds, Chris Garvey, who has completed two triathlons, finished in 1 hour 55 minutes and 27 seconds, and Selina Kirkham, first-time triathlon participant, 1 hour 49 minutes and 31 seconds.

Leanne Garvey explained: “We’re really proud to have taken part and completed this year’s Harlech Triathlon. The town has so many windy streets and steep hills which make it a real challenge, but the views of Snowdonia and the surrounding landscapes always promise a fantastic journey.”

The Harlech Triathlon route runs past a local tennis court, over the railway line, and alongside the beach and golf course, and hundreds of participants travel to the location to take part in the triathlon each year.

Selina Kirkham added: “The Harlech Triathlon gave me a brilliant first experience at the sport and although it was a challenge, I’m so pleased with the times that I achieved, as are Leanne and Chris. We’re really looking forward to next year’s event and hope to beat our personal bests!”
