Tinder Foundation Supports Severnside Residents to get online

Tinder Foundation supports Severnside residents to get online Severnside Housing is delighted to have secured funding from the Tinder Foundation to support helping its residents to get online.

The focus of this digital inclusion project will fall around Harlescott, with sessions being delivered at four locations -- Riversway Church, Hope Church, Kynaston Road Community Centre and Greenacres Communal Room at the Sheltered Scheme.

Individuals do not need to book in to attend -- they are welcome to drop in and stay for as long as they like and they can complete as many courses as they would like to. The sessions will be developed around the users’ needs and could include job searching, applying for benefits, preparing CVs, accessing energy saving sites as well as how to stay in touch online.

In addition, there will be a focus on encouraging users to access the Learn My Way website, to register and to complete courses online. Learn My Way offers courses from as simple as ‘Using a Mouse’ to more complicated ‘Using Email’

Learn My Way also offers more developed courses for banking online, socialising online and online shopping. These courses are all accessible from any computer so once people have registered then they can continue with learning either by attending continued sessions or they are welcome to continue learning at home.

Wendy Brookfield, Head of Community Services at Severnside Housing, said “this is a really exciting project and we want to encourage our residents to take advantage of all the help and support on offer for them to get online and access these services. It really is a very supportive way to take -- what can be for many people -- a leap into the digital world. Don’t struggle at home, come along to one of these sessions and let yourself be helped.”

Sessions are already underway and will run to the end of March:

  *   Every Tuesday, 10am--1pm, Kynaston Road Community Centre

  *   Every Wednesday, 10am--2.30pm, Hope Church, Grafton Mews

  *   Every Thursday, 1pm--4pm, Riversway Church, Lancaster Road.
