Telford dancers ready to take on the world

A group of talented youngsters will be representing Shropshire and the UK at an international street dancing competition thanks to generous sponsorship from a county firm.

The Havoc Street Dance Crew is made up of dancers aged between eight and ten, all from the Telford area, who are preparing to jet off to Germany for the European Street Dance Championships in May.

Caroline Douglas, a parent who helps with the group, said the trip would not have been possible without the help of Telford company, Digiland, who donated £1,000 to Havoc and its partner group, Recess.

The money went towards training materials, including new outfits which the dancers will wear onstage at the championships.

Digiland’s director, Jaydee Park, presented the group with the new outfits at the company’s headquarters in Stafford Park and wished them well for the competition.

Mr Park said: “The Havoc and Recess groups performed at a family fun day we held last summer and we were so impressed that we wanted to support them in the future.

“It was wonderful to see them again and hear how the sponsorship has helped the groups develop. It’s a real pleasure to know that we have helped them to represent the country at the international championships.

“We wish them all the luck in the world and know they will do themselves proud.”

Havoc and Recess are part of the Street Dance Telford group, who train at the Ace Martial Arts Studio in Oakengates.

Caroline Douglas, of the group, said: “The dancers love their new outfits and are really excited about going to Germany for the championships.

“It’s no exaggeration to say this would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the support of Digiland, so we are tremendously grateful for their support.”

Digiland is based at Stafford Park 12, Telford, and sells high quality refurbished Samsung products, as well as LED lighting for businesses.
