Strings day at school

A ‘Strings Day’ will be held at Shrewsbury School on June 8 as part of the school’s new Lifelong Learning programme.

This day course, run by professional violinist and teacher Louise Latham, gives experienced string players the chance to play two of the best loved pieces from the English string repertoire – “Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis” by Vaughan Williams and “Serenade for Strings” by Elgar.

There will be three sessions and an informal play through at the end for which friends and family members may join us. Drinks and a deli style lunch will be provided.

Bowed parts will be provided on the day and the music can be viewed on the Petrucci website.

Lifelong Learning is a series of events launched by the school as part of a new community involvement initiative and includes lectures, music days and conferences.

All events are open to members of the public. For further information please contact Chris Conway, director of Lifelong Learning: [email protected] / 01743 280555.
