Shropshire teenager lands dream job at Shropshire hotel

Ask a young boy what he wants to be when he’s older and you are bombarded with ideas - astronaut, pilot, dog-walker, juggler, binman - refuse collector is a bit much for a three-year-old!

When you ask a girl there often seems to be more thought behind it….a swimmer, vet, doctor, Olympic gymnast - although a princess is also regularly top on the list.

One Shropshire teenager is currently pinching herself after landing a role that many youngsters would describe as their dream job.

Sian Seymour, 18, is the new apprentice wedding co-ordinator at The Wroxeter Hotel, between Shrewsbury and Telford.

She said: “It is absolutely amazing. It is not a job I ever thought I would have but as soon as I started doing it I knew it was a job I was going to love.”

Sian assists the wedding team to meet the needs of the couples planning their day at the venue, which is situated between Shrewsbury and Telford near the remains of the Roman city Viriconium and a short distance from the Wroxeter Vineyard.

“I do lots of different things and am often there on the day to help and assist the Master of Ceremonies,” added Sian.

“It feels really good to watch people get married and it is so nice to have a job that makes me smile every day.”

Hotel director Hannah Hall said Sian has made a great impression and is already an asset to the team just a few weeks in.

She said: “The main thing that is important when it comes to a wedding team is the passion of each and every member. They have to be as passionate about making the big day perfect as the bride and groom themselves.

“Sian is fantastic her passion and enthusiasm shines through and we are very lucky to have found her.

“Apprenticeships are all about harnessing new talent and providing on the job training for young people who have great skills and are looking for a role they can grow into.

“I really think Sian is someone with wonderful talent in this area and we are looking forward to seeing her grow in the role.”
