Shropshire centre gives golfers chance to play on Open Championship courses

With millions of people glued to the finals of The Open during July, a new golf centre in Shropshire is offering people the chance to play on a championship course for real.

Shrosbree Indoor Golf and Performance Centre, in Rodenhurst Business Park, near Shrewsbury, uses state-of-the-art technology to simulate some of the world’s best courses - including courses which hosted The Open.

Tim Shrosbree, owner of the centre, said golfers were always eager to play on the same courses as the professionals, and with the help of modern technology they now could.

He said: “We have three simulator booths with huge screens which show the courses in HD and allow you to play your way around some of the most prestigious courses in the world.

“Among the 80 courses available we have Carnoustie and Royal Troon, two of the most famous Open Championship courses which are proving to be very popular at the moment.

“There’s even more interest in The Open this year with Tiger Woods returning, which is great for the sport.”

Mr Shrosbree has coached golf in Shropshire for almost 10 years, and has taken his mobile simulator to Manchester City and Manchester United training camps where players have used it to practice their golf.

He opened the indoor golf and performance centre last year with the aim of giving people the chance practice and improve their game whatever the weather.

Mr Shrosbree added: “We have also started offering team building events, drawing on our experience of working with high performing teams like Manchester City, which we feel would be hugely beneficial to businesses.

“I would encourage anyone interested to get in touch or just pop in to the centre to have a look at what we can offer.”
