Shrewsbury; it’s time to cut loose!

Local Musical Theatre company Get Your Wigle On return to Theatre Severn’s Main Auditorium with the explosive movie musical Footloose next month.

You might have seen them on stage in 2014 with sell-out productions Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables and Oliver! and next month the company turn their attention to the eighties and the popular musical adaptation of the Kevin Bacon film.  Footloose is showing in Theatre Severn from 11th-14th March, with performances nightly at 7.30pm and an additional matinee on Saturday 14th at 2.30pm.

The group have been busy rehearsing in their Shrewsbury town centre studio; tackling technical harmonies and complex original choreography to bring together the best of the eighties in a story of growing up and facing new challenges, following city boy Ren and his big move to the not-so-big Bomont.

With a fusion of fun and the heartfelt tale of a tragic memory, the electrifying eighties score includes hits ‘Holding Out For A Hero,’ ‘Let’s Hear It For The Boy,’ ‘Almost Paradise’ and of course the title track, ‘Footloose.’  The tickets are available from the Theatre Severn box office from just £10.00, Footloose is a great opportunity for locals to enjoy a fun night out with friends , family and colleagues.

Directors Ross Wigley and James Broxton describe the show as ‘an energetic musical that’ll take audiences on an upbeat journey back to the eighties.’   From the vibrant vintage costumes handpicked by the Get Your Wigle On team to the talented live local orchestra, the company have been working hard to produce another hit musical for the Theatre Severn stage.

Following their Spring 2014 move to their town centre studio, the group have gone from strength to strength, enjoying new challenges and providing opportunities to engage in the arts for local people of all ages.  2015 sees a busy programme of productions, following Footloose will be one of the first amateur productions of Ghost: The Musical, in June, fresh from the West End and its successful UK tour.  The talented teen musical theatre company also bring a beautiful love story to Shrewsbury this summer- with the Andrew Lloyd Webber phenomenon The Phantom of the Opera. The group sold out their 2014 production of Les Miserables, with locals queuing daily in the hope of a return ticket, and return with soaring ballads and a live local orchestra.  Tickets for both productions go on sale this Valentines day and tickets for Footloose are available now, by calling the Theatre Severn box office on 01743281281.
