Shrewsbury Flower Show Young Photography Competition Winners

Following the great success last year, the Shrewsbury Flower Show organisers invited the young people of County and beyond to take part in a Young Photographer Competition, sponsored by camera specialists Jessops in Mardol.

With the theme “New Beginnings,” budding young photographers aged 18 years and under let their creativity blossom and got snapping across the county in the hope their pictures would be shortlisted All images submitted where on display in the Dingle Marquee over the two days, and visitors to the Show were asked to vote for their favourite.

Congratulations go out to 11year old Eleanor Wynn, from Newport who won the junior section of the competition and 17 year old Caroline Vernon of Whitchurch who took first prize for the seniors.
Elliot Dorgan from Chester and Daisy Davidson from Shrewsbury were awarded second prize in the junior and senior competitions, while Hope Vaughan and Adam Davies both from Shrewsbury, came third.
The winning entrants were recently presented with their prizes, images recreated onto canvas, by Pete Walker from Jessops.  The first place winners have also been awarded a place on the Photography Academy course run by Jessops.

Society Secretary Simon Badrock said: “We have had some amazing photos in this year’s competition which have really captured the theme. It is clear we have a lot of artistic talent in the county and it’s important this is nurtured. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition to see what imaginative pictures we receive. Thanks to Jessops for the continued support , their involvement is greatly appreciated”
