Shrewsbury Flower Show 2013

The Shrewsbury Flower Show for 2013 is set to be bigger and better than ever in its 126th year running. On the 9th and 10th of August, Shrewsbury’s magnificent Quarry Park will be bursting with over three million explosive blooms, fabulous food with exceptional baker Paul Hollywood , celebrity guests including green fingered Chris Beardshaw and live prodigious entertainment from Bellowhead- the ultimate summer day out!

For lovers of all things gastronomic, the Marches Foodhall will be a foodie paradise, with celebrity superstar baker Paul Hollywood hosting live demonstrations. This is the perfect chance to get up close and personal with Paul’s fantastic cooking techniques, brilliant bread baking and charming charisma.

A collection of the UK’s finest food producers, based in the food hall, will also offer plenty of chances to taste the wide range of delicious delicacies and sample the alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments that promise to tantalise your taste buds! Shropshire Born and Brewed Ale will also be attending the Flower Show this year with their scrumptious full-flavoured local ales that are delectable palate pleasers.

As well as fantastic floral displays, horticultural competitions and trade stands, celebrity horticulturist Chris Beardshaw will be on hand to inspire even the most green of gardeners with hints and tips.

The show gardens and flower arrangements are not only beautiful but also inspiring; and, not to be overlooked, the children’s vegetable competition is heart-warming and will bring a smile to everyone’s face!

For arena entertainment, this year’s lineup is the most impressive yet; expect class acts from some of the UK’s best show jumpers and death defying, mind boggling, stunts from the Royal Signals White Helmet Motorcycle Team. Shrewsbury Flower Show also boasts a famous, fierce, show stopping fire work display that promises real excitement and awe from the spectators. A far cry from the average sparkler!

As if all this wasn’t enough this year’s Shrewsbury Flower Show is proud to be staging the much sought after and highly acclaimed folk band Bellowhead. With their one of-a-kind energetic performances this is going to be live music at its very best and one not to be missed!

There are also art, craft and gadget stands with something exciting for everyone. Don’t forget to stop and treat yourself to a cider or a cheeky Pimms from one of the many surrounding bars, keeping everyone thirst quenched and sending them on their way to enjoy more of the glorious event that brings Shrewsbury to life in a burst of colour and excitement!
