Shrewsbury BID awarded industry accreditation

Shrewsbury BID has been awarded a prestigious industry-led accreditation for being a well-run organisation that delivers real value and benefits to its members.

The accreditation from British BIDs, a professional body focused on representation and development of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in the UK, was presented to Shrewsbury BID Manager Kirsten Henly at British BIDs’ 10th Annual Conference and Awards Dinner in Canary Wharf in London.

The industry recognised standard is awarded to BIDs which demonstrate they have quality management systems in place and are meeting certain levels of management and governance proficiency. Only 20 of the UK’s 220 BIDs currently hold the accreditation.

Shrewsbury BID was evaluated on criteria including its governance and operational arrangements, financial systems, communications processes and reporting methods.

Shrewsbury BID Manager Kirsten Henly said: “Achieving this accreditation is a significant milestone for us as it measured our performance against recognised BID standards. It gives our members confidence that we have robust systems and processes in place to meet their objectives to deliver our business plan and benefit the business and wider community.

“Gaining accreditation recognises the efforts and commitment shown by the Shrewsbury BID team and Board of Directors and further highlights our resolve to remain focused on our task of driving a strong town centre economy. We will continue to work hard to meet and exceed industry benchmarks.”

British BIDs Chief Executive Dr Julie Grail added:  “We are delighted to award Shrewsbury BID with British BIDs Accreditation. It is testament to their professionalism and efficiency that this has been achieved so early in their first BID term.”
