Shrewsbury & Atcham MP meets new UKTI Minister to discuss Shropshire Investment Opportunities

Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawczynski met with Lord Ian Livingston – incoming minister for UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) – to present and discuss the portfolio containing the opportunities for investment around Shropshire today in the House of Lords. The portfolio was compiled for last week’s visit to Shropshire by the Chief Executive of UKTI, the Government body responsible for promoting inward investment into the UK.

After receiving the Shropshire investment portfolio, Lord Livingston and Mr Kawczynski discussed at length strategies for how MPs, the Local Enterprise Partnership, and regional UKTI offices can work collaboratively to ensure foreign direct investment into local projects is secured.

Following the meeting with Lord Livingston, the Shrewsbury MP said: “My first meeting with the new minister was very productive and positive. I was keen to share with him the exciting range of investment opportunities we have in Shrewsbury and Shropshire compiled in the portfolio, to which he graciously offered his personal support to help me sell these opportunities to potential investors.”

Commenting further on Lord Livingston’s recent appointment by the Prime Minister as Minister for UKTI, Daniel said: “I am fully confident that we have the right individual at the helm to lead our national export effort and UKTI. As the former Chief Executive of BT, Lord Livingston has to proper level of experience and business pedigree to lead such an organisation. I look forward to seeing what he will achieve in the coming months.”
