Plant for Energy! Easter Sat 19th April

Bishop's Castle Community Energy Co-operative Ltd (BCCE) is holding a plant sale on Easter Saturday 19th April 2014, outside the Pharmacy on the High Street from 10.30am to 1pm – come and begin your spring planting with us! The sale is in aid of the Bishop's Castle Woodheat project. BCCE are also calling for donations of plants or seedlings – all welcomed.

The Woodheat project proposes to offer the Community College, SpArC and the Swimming Pool the opportunity of installing, without incurring any capital expenditure, a state-of-the-art woodfuel heating system which would lower their energy bills and CO2 emissions and provide funds for the wider community. To donate plants or seedlings for the sale, please contact BCCE on either 07813 885 906 or 07815 421 698.

BCCE have now received a grant from WRAP (Waste Resources Action Programme) for a full feasibility study to gather in-depth data on the heat use, building energy performance, site suitability, technical demands and costings that will be involved in this exciting and challenging project and expect the study to be complete by June.

BCCE has sprung from a combination of Wasteless Society, Lightfoot Household Energy and Bishops Castle Community Land Trust members and consists of local residents, business people and sustainable energy enthusiasts. BCCE is keen to receive support, questions and feedback from residents, parents and students and is actively seeking new members.
