Morris Care sponsors Macmillan Race

Quality care specialist, Morris Care, today announced it has become headline sponsor of Macmillan’s 2014 World Championship Coracle Race which will take place on Saturday 14th June at the Pengwern Boat Club in Shrewsbury.

The bi-annual coracle race sees 48 teams go head to head and will this year include a team of enthusiastic Morris Care employees looking to give competitors a shot across the bows.

Morris Care Director, Tim Morris, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Macmillan Cancer Support in Shropshire. There’s a strong alignment between Morris Care and Macmillan Cancer Support’s commitment to providing high quality, sensitive care and support to those in need.

“Cancer affects so many of us and this is a great opportunity for us to get a team together and show our support.”

Morris Care’s sponsorship has kick started Macmillan’s fundraising effort, which looks to raise more than £20,000 for Shropshire Macmillan Cancer Support from the coracle race.

Macmillan fundraising Manager Helen Knight added: “It’s great to welcome Morris Care on board as a new sponsor.  The Coracle race has raised more than £125,000 since 2007 and we are very grateful for the support and commitment we receive.  I would like to thank Morris Care for their sponsorship as well as our committee, teams and supporters, who all make the race possible.”

The coracle race will see the 48 teams competing in heats to reach the semi finals and then finals. For more information or to enter a team in the race email: [email protected] or find World Facebook Championships on Facebook.
