Mayfair Community Centre in Church Stretton are launching their autumn craft sessions

Using knitting, weaving and embroidering skills Karen Van Hoff, from Ludlow will be running a jewellery workshop at Mayfair. Karen, who has been designing and making jewellery for over six years, sculpts fine wires with pearls, crystals, and gemstone beads into stunning pieces of jewellery, all inspired by the ever changing and intricately detailed flora found in the hedgerows of the Shropshire country side.

Ludlow based Karen said “I was delighted when I was contacted about running a jewellery workshop at Mayfair. After years working alone, it has been a joy to be able to go out into the community to meet and work with groups of interested and likeminded individuals”.

The workshop, which is happening on October 8th will enable Karen to show participants how to use simple techniques, tools and materials to create a work of art; a piece of jewellery or a stunning textile panel.

Karen continued “It is always a challenging and an inspiring experience for me as a tutor. The most rewarding aspect of my job, is not only teaching people new ways to create jewellery, but seeing how much pleasure people derive from taking part in the creative process, how surprised people are by what they have been able to make”.

Centre Coordinator, Sophie Eades said “Karen’s work looks amazing, and we are really excited about seeing what creations can be made by the course participants”.

Karen is an experienced tutor and has designed and delivered workshops for a variety of organisations including Schools, WI Craft Groups and Galleries.

The course date is Tuesday October 8th and will run from 10am – 3pm. All materials and tools are provided as well as refreshments. The course cost is £25 per person.
