Light show to bring cheer to shoppers and singers in Shrewsbury

A snow filled light projection will wow crowds in Shrewsbury’s Town Square on Wednesday 16th December as part of the late night shopping and events offer in the town centre.

Snow will fall as part of a magical moving Christmas show projected onto the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, while music will complete the interactive audio-visual experience.

The projections by new media light artist Andy McKeown will run between 4.30pm and 8.30pm, alongside the popular Carols in the Square concert which starts at 5.30pm.

Shrewsbury BID manager Kirsten Henly said: “Andy is a leading multimedia artist and his projections will be transforming one of the town’s most iconic buildings. His interactive Christmas backdrop will an great addition to a busy night in town, alongside the very popular Carols in the Square event.”

This Wednesday is the second to last late night shopping night in Shrewsbury before Christmas. Free parking is available for late night shoppers from 4pm in Frankwell Main, St. Julian’s Friars and Abbey Foregate car parks. Raven Meadows multi-storey will be open until 9.30pm on Wednesdays until Christmas (normal charges apply).

Shrewsbury’s varied Christmas programme continues on Saturday 19th December with the Christmas Farmers Market in The Square. Father Christmas will be meeting and greeting children in his grotto until the 23rd December, before he heads back to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas Eve.
