Jolly Good trail as Wales Rally GB gets underway

A trail of vehicles belonging to a Shropshire hire firm will be seen right across the Welsh countryside over next few days as they provide vital support to organisers of the Wales Rally GB.

A total of 70 vehicles have been donated and hired out to the rally by Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals which has depots in Shrewsbury, Colwyn Bay, Newtown, Wrexham and Deeside.

The fleet of vans, minibuses and campers will be providing vital support during the three-day rally event, which got underway today (Friday, November 13) in the Dyfi Forest in Mid Wales.

From being used as mobile offices to transporting marshals and VIP rally guests the vehicles will perform a range of vital support roles in the running of the the final round of the the 2014 FIA World Rally Championship.

Jason King, from Jolly Good Vehicle Hire in Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury, said: “We are ecstatic and so proud to be part of such a big event which will be viewed right across the world.

“It is great to see so many of our vehicles at the heart of the rally.

“All 70 of them will be driven by a band of volunteers across the length and breadth of Wales over the next few days supporting the rally.

“There is such a buzz surrounding the event and for someone like me who is a real motorsport fan it’s just such a great opportunity to get close even closer to the action.”

Rally drivers and their cars will take part in 23 competitive stages across Wales totalling 191 miles on forest tracks and friendly parkland roads.

The winner of the championship will be crowned in Llandudno on Sunday.

Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals, which also has depots in Chippenham and Ely, is also sponsoring rally champion Keith Parry, from Anglesey, during the event.

“We are really proud to be sponsoring Keith who drives with KP Motorsport,” said Mr King.

“He has a great following and everyone is really behind him, we wish him the best of luck.”

Jolly Good Vehicle Hire provides both short and long-term and flexible, rolling hire contracts for vans and cars, with delivery of its vehicles nationwide.
