Glamour and gifts night planned

There will be glamour and gifts galore at a glitzy evening planned for Shrewsbury this month.

A range of businesses from throughout the town are joining forces to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support at the event on November 27th hosted by the St Nicolas Retreat in Castle Street.

“It should be a really enjoyable night when people can do their Christmas shopping and watch hair and beauty demonstrations, as well as be pampered with some spa treatments,” said Helen Knight, Macmillan’s Shropshire fund raising manager.

Lauren Foskett, manager of the Toni & Guy salon in Castle Street, will be demonstrating seasonal party hairstyles during the evening.

She is a specialist stylist who helps cancer patients and became the first hairdresser in the region to qualify with Macmillan through its ‘Strength in Style’ programme.

She spent time on a training course in London, meeting Macmillan nurses and people who had lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatment and learning about what they go through and how she could offer support.

“Toni & Guy has a long association with Macmillan Cancer Support, organising regular fund- raising activities, so we were delighted to be asked to take part in this glamour and gifts night,” said Lauren.

Debbie Davies, a beautician with Boots in Pride Hill who also works with Macmillan to advise people going through cancer treatment, will be on hand at the event, along with two Macmillan pharmacists from Boots.

Retailers from around Shrewsbury, including fashion and jewellery specialists Oberon of Wyle Cop, will have a selection of products for sale.

The Christmas gifts, glitter and glamour night will be held from 5.30pm until 8.30pm on November 27th, with a £2 suggested entrance fee donation.
