First wedding fair planned at Parade

More than 30 Shropshire businesses will join forces next week for a new event hosted in an historic county building.

A wedding fair will be held at The Parade shopping centre in the middle of Shrewsbury on July 20th.

Exhibitors at the Georgian building will include bridal wear specialists, photographers, chauffeurs, florists, jewellers and caterers.

“We are very excited about our first wedding fair and are expecting a large number of visitors,” said organiser Anne Tucker, who runs Wedding World in The Parade, in St Mary’s Place.

“It seemed like an ideal venue for the event as this is such a beautiful building and we are one of the county’s longest-established bridal wear companies, established over 30 years ago.

“We also have Martin David, a leading formal hire and bespoke menswear tailors here too, so we can ‘kit out’ the entire bridal party at The Parade.

“We are planning to make full use of the building and its town centre location and car park and will have over 30 exhibitors joining us on the day to showcase their services which also include  modern and vintage cars, cakes, hair and make-up, stationery and entertainment and some of our fellow Parade retailers are opening on the day too,” Anne said.

Telford businessman Matt Dexter, who runs ‘The Esteemed Gent’ grooming company, will be on hand to give demonstrations.

He will be bringing his barbers chair along to show how he provides a hot towel cut throat shaving service to grooms and their parties.

Music will be provided by jazz trio The Swing Katz Trio and the Two Flutes For You duo.

“It should be a really good event, featuring some of Shropshire’s best-known wedding professionals who will give advice and inspiration to people about planning their big day. We are really looking forward to it,” Anne added.
