Festival organisers announce return to Shrewsbury for popular folk group

Popular folk group Kerfuffle will make a welcome return to Shrewsbury this Christmas for a gig organised by Shrewsbury Folk Festival.

The band – comprising of Bellowhead member Sam Sweeney, Tom Sweeney, Jamie Roberts and Lady Maisery’s Hannah James - will perform at St Alkmund’s Church in the town centre on December 22.

It is a rare appearance for the group that seldom performs together anymore and it is a first for the festival to host a concert at the church.

The venue seats just over 200 people and organisers are advising people to book early as the last Shrewsbury performance by the group in December 2012 sold out well in advance.

Folk Festival Director Alan Surtees said: “Kerfuffle is a fabulous group and I am really pleased we have managed to entice them back to Shrewsbury again.

“The setting will be great and we are hoping that as many people as possible come and enjoy a great start to their festive celebrations.”

The festival also has two further folk concerts in 2013 that will be held at the usual venue of The Hive in Belmont. Chris Wood will take to the stage on November 10 and Belzhazzar’s Feast on December 15.

All concerts start at 7.45pm and tickets for all events including Kerfuffle are available from The Hive on 01743 234970. For more information, go to www.shrewsburyfolkfestival.co.uk/ news/folk-at-the-hive/.
