Christmas crafts and food events at Parade

The Parade shopping centre in Shrewsbury is set to make mid weeks in the town extra special in the lead up to Christmas.

The arcade, set in a beautiful Georgian building in St Mary’s Place, is hosting three ‘Wonderful Wednesday’ events which will focus on crafts and local food.

The festive shopping days will be held on November 26, December 3rd and 10th and will feature stalls, Christmas music, refreshments and offers from various retailers in The Parade, which has around 30 unique independent stores.

“We hope to make Wednesday shopping in Shrewsbury a little bit different, with lots of lovely attractions for customers and opening hours extended to 8pm,” said Mark Jones owner of the Snug Café, who is helping to organise the Wednesday events along with Sarah-Jane Luck from Sarasvati, Gill Morris from Beadles.

“The Parade is set in a stunning location and with the Christmas tree and lights up there is a special atmosphere here and we hope as many people as possible will come along to browse around our shops and stalls,” he said.

Customers will be able to take part in craft activities at painting and pottery Splat and Splodge where they can decorate their own festive mugs and buy home-made ceramic bunting, buttons and decorations.

Well-established Parade retailer Beadles, an Aladdin’s cave of colourful costume jewellery and decorative glassware, including plates, bowls and coasters, is also hosting a Christmas event on November 29th, when seasonal food and drink will be served.
