Charity Race Night Raises More than £1,000

Telford mayor Leon Murray is a safe bet when it comes to raising money for charity.

But it was more Bet Leon than Bet Fred at a race night in Wellington which raised £1,240 for the Telford mayor’s charity.

Councillor Murray today collected the money from Dewi Evans who put on the event sponsored by Shropshire’s TTC Group, one of the UK’s largest road safety organisations.

A total of 85 enjoyed the race night and a fish and chip supper held at Wellington’s Belmont Community Hall in November. The proceeds will be shared between Severn Hospice and Wellington Cottage Care Trust which gives nursing care in the community.

“We were more than happy to help sponsor a fun event raising money for such worthwhile causes,” said Jenny Wynn, MD of the TTC Group, of Hadley Park, Telford.
