Celebrity Piano Recital at Shrewsbury School

Shrewsbury School is thrilled to welcome the internationally renowned Welsh pianist Llyr Williams to perform in the Alington Hall
on Saturday 1st March at 7.30pm.

He will give the inaugural performance on a new Steinway piano that the School has generously been generously been given.

Llyr Williams has performed with orchestras around the world, including the BBC Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Hallé Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.

He also appears regularly at the BBC Proms in London and has given many remarkable performances at the Edinburgh Festival.

Llyr Williams says: “I very much look forward to giving my recital at Shrewsbury School since it will be my first time to do so. The special honour is to perform on an evening which will be the official unveiling of the newly acquired Steinway model D piano.”

The programme for Llyr’s piano recital includes:

  • Mozart: Fantasie in C minor K47
  • Beethoven: Piano Sonata Op.90
  • Schubert: Wanderer Fantasie
  • Schumann: Fantasiestücke, Op12
  • Chopin: Polonaise-Fantasie Op 61
  • Mazurkas by Szymanowski
