Carers Rights Day event announced

National Carers Rights Day takes place next month and an event is being held locally in Shrewsbury to help carers from around the county know their rights and receive support.

The event is being organised by Shropshire Rural Community Council on Friday 29th November and will be staged in the Methodist Church in Landsdowne Road at Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury.

Celia MacIntyre of the Family Carers and Community Well Being service said: “With thousands of carers in the county, we will be letting them know about their rights and entitlements, together with providing vital advice and information to anyone looking after an older, disabled or ill family member to make sure they know how to get financial and practical support.

“Every year more than 2 million people become carers, many don’t identify themselves as such and tend to miss out on support and many people who have been carers for many years aren’t aware of their entitlements, so we hope to take advantage of this special day to raise awareness.”

Further information can be obtained from Shropshire RCC via the Carers Support Line on 01743 341995.
