Boost for Shoppers as Loyalty Card and App are Launched in Shrewsbury

A new loyalty card scheme and mobile app has launched in Shrewsbury, allowing shoppers and visitors regular access to great offers and promotions in the town.

The ‘Original One-off’ loyalty card developed by the Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) will encourage anyone who works in the town centre to take advantage of local offers in a variety of different establishments during lunchtime and after work.

Working in conjunction with the loyalty card will also be the mobile app, InfoBeetle, developed by local businessman Richard Flukes and his team. The app, available for iPhone and Android users, will allow visitors to enjoy a regular flow of information on events and promotions in the town.

Supported by Shrewsbury BID, the app is available to download free and already has 25 businesses signed up to promote their offers including the Lion & Pheasant, Henry Tudor House, the Alb, the Bellstone and the House of the Rising Sun.

Businesses are being offered the chance to regularly update their offers and showcase exclusive promotions.

Richard Flukes, infoBeetle co-founder, said: “Having been in business in Shrewsbury for over ten years, I have felt the town needed a flexible, interactive and joined up approach to events and promotions so that visitors can find out all the great activities and offers that are going on in the town.

“The initial response to the app has been fantastic with over 500 downloads achieved in 10 days. Coupled with the loyalty card, this will really help to showcase the offer we have in Shrewsbury and encourage people to explore the town and its business more.”

Kirsten Henly, Shrewsbury BID Manager, said: “This is a great way for businesses to showcase their distinct offers to customers and visitors who are on the go and looking for live information on what’s on offer in the town.

“Our joint approach which combines both the app and the ‘Original One-Off’ card means that businesses can tailor their offers all year around and also appeal to a large audience of people that come into town.”

The ‘Original One-Off’ loyalty cards will be available in a number of town centre businesses for those working in Shrewsbury.
