Acclaimed international jazz musician Joe Stilgoe to perform at Shrewsbury School

One of the UK’s busiest and most acclaimed jazz musicians is performing at Shrewsbury School on Friday 20th September.

Joe Stilgoe and his band are a much sought-after cabaret act and have performed for a clientele as diverse as Madonna, Prince Edward, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir John Major.

They have appeared at a host of top venues, including Ronnie Scott’s, the Barbican, the London Jazz Festival and the Edinburgh Festival (where they won a Time Out Award). Joe also works extensively in radio and has been particularly championed by Radio 2, Richard Madeley, Chris Evans and Sir Michael Parkinson, who dubbed Stilgoe “a truly remarkable singer/songwriter, not to mention piano player”.

Jazz legend Sir John Dankworth has said of Joe Stilgoe: "Not since Oscar Peterson’s halcyon days have I heard a jazz piano player who could be compared to such a great artist in both technique and inspiration."

Darren Wood, Events Manager at Shrewsbury School is looking forward to a sell-out event:
“Joe and his band are amazing musicians and we are thrilled and honoured that they will be performing at Shrewsbury School. It promises to be a fantastic evening of wonderful music and great entertainment.”
