Shrewsbury Solar Company Awarded Partner Status by World Leading Brand

Shrewsbury based Salop Energy Ltd has been accredited with PV Partner status by SHARP UK one of the world's leading manufacturers of photovoltaic cells.

PV Partner status from SHARP UK is only awarded to established solar energy installation companies which can prove they will deliver a high-end product and represent SHARP UK's range of solar modules in a professional manner befitting a world renowned brand. Only a handful of solar energy companies out of many thousands in the UK have been selected to receive partner status by SHARP.

Cabinet Reshuffle Halts Campervan Safety Campaign Meeting

One casualty of Prime Minister David Cameron’s Cabinet reshuffle was Shropshire company’s long awaited meeting with a Government transport minister in London today (Wednesday) to discuss a campaign to improve safety in Volkswagen campervan conversions.

Managing director Darren Bebb and business development manager David Park, from Bebb Limited, a sister company to Shrewsbury-based Salop Vans, was due to meet Mike Penning, but he has been moved from Department of Transport to the Northern Ireland Office.

Spirit of the Dance

An international smash hit and one of the most successful shows ever to come out of Ireland, Spirit of the Dance comes to Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn this month. The shows will be performed for two nights only, on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 September.

Farmers Market

Music Duo Perform at Market Hall

Music fans will have the chance to see a popular Shrewsbury duo at the town’s indoor Market Hall this weekend.

Cooper and Davies will be appearing live at the Bird’s Nest Café as part of the venue’s Saturday matinee sessions on Saturday [8 SEPT].

The duo are back by popular demand and will be performing a mix of original material, and covers, between 12pm and 3pm.

Cooper and Davies CDs will also be available to purchase on the day.

Vision Express pair take the rough road for charity

A pair of work colleagues with an eye for fund-raising have taken to the road to raise a mountain of cash for MacMillan Cancer Support.

David Parkinson, 45, and Matthew Reynolds, 32, who both work at Pride Hill, Shrewsbury’s Vision Express store, have tackled the MacMillan 4X4 Driving Challenge for the third year in succession.
And this year the intrepid pair raised more than £2,000 taking their total over three years to in excess of £6,500.

Times are hard, I don’t care what anyone says, but it takes the smallest comment, gesture to raise momentum and keep motivating local independents like me and the compliment I had recently.  Not by a customer but a patriotic retired Visitor, who loves architecture and sign-writing. 

He found my shop front stylish and the fact that I occasionally have Men in Tights to help promote the Shop on Saturdays prompted him to take a photo and send it to me.  His comment “gives life and spirit to the town” uplifted me!

Vamm reprise Shrewsbury success with Hive gig

New folk trio Vamm are set to reprise their successful appearance at the recent Shrewsbury Folk Festival with a gig at the Hive in Shrewsbury on September 16.

Vamm – which means ‘to bewitch and entrance’ in Shetlandic - features Scottish fiddle players Patsy Reid and Catriona MacDonald, and Norwegian mandola player Marit Falt.

Artists Illustrated Talks

We would like to invite you to our new and exciting series of artists' illustrated talks to be held in the build up of our move to a new venue.

The talks will be at the Old Market Hall, Town Square, last Thursday of the month
10.00 - 11.30am.
The venue/cafe will be open from 9.30am
£4 per talk or £3* (*concession for full-time students, unemployed, Museum Friends)
£28 or £20* for Season Ticket for the whole series.
