Knockout Pizza Helps Shrewsbury Boxing Club

The Amazing Woodfired Pizza Company has come up with a new ‘Knockout’ pizza to help save Shrewsbury Amateur Boxing Club after its training centre on Smithfield Road suffered £15,000 of damage in an arson attack last month

The company has come up with a special new recipe to tempt customers and will donate £2 from every one of the pizzas sold to the campaign. Kim Ford, manager of the Amazing Woodfired Pizza Company, which is situated just across the road from the John Davies Boxing Centre on Smithfield Road, said she was glad to be helping a neighbour.

Owen Lewis was born fifty something years ago in the land of the black puddings. For the geographically challenged that is in Lancashire. Moving to Shropshire From 1970 Owen was brought up in Church Stretton. His first real job was in radio. After starting on BBC Radio Shropshire he became known on Marcher Sound, broadcasting throughout the North West for several years. After a university degree course in Theatre, Owen became an actor and went on to play "Pirate Bill" in The Alton Towers Hotel. He also made several television appearances. Returning to university he took his PGCE enabling him to teach. That saw him on the Essex coast as a drama teacher and latterly as a Creative Educational Liaison Officer making films and creating new teaching methods to employ on children in need of more help in their fundamental learning skills. Shrewsbury is set to ‘Eat out for Africa’

Thirteen cafes and restaurants in Shrewsbury have signed up to join locally based development charity, Self Help Africa, for their first-ever ‘Eat out for Africa’ event to celebrate World Food Day on Saturday 20th October.

Profits from special dishes on the menus of some of the towns best loved eateries will be donated to the charity to continue its work in rural Africa.

Young People to get animated with Hive workshop

Young people in Shropshire have the exciting opportunity to participate in a Halloween themed animation workshop this half-term at the Hive Music and Media Centre in Shrewsbury.

 

Exploring digital and stop-frame techniques to produce a Halloween themed animation in a day, young participants will create their very own plasticine characters and colourful sets. The workshop will be taking place on Tuesday October 30, between 10am and 3:30pm. The workshop for ages 8-13 will cost only £17.50 for the day and there are limited places still available.

Three Cheers For The Little Guy

I have talked to a great many people over recent months about their experiences in the job market. Unsurprisingly during a recession many people felt pessimistic about their chances of getting the job they really wanted, but I did speak to a fair number of people who were more upbeat.
