Saxonby appoints longest serving employee to head of construction

A Shropshire construction company has promoted one of its longest serving employees to a brand new senior manager position, highlighting the company’s ability to ‘embrace change’ as the order book grows.

Reporting to directors Andrew Copson and James Wood, 34-year-old Tony Robson, who joined Saxonby as a skilled machine operator in 2007, will be responsible for all aspects of the on-site construction function across its current and future developments.  He will work closely with assistant director Lee Goswell, who heads up the technical aspects of Saxonby’s construction programmes.

Commenting on his new appointment Tony Robson said: “This is a key moment in my career and one that I’m very proud to have achieved. I began more or less at the bottom and thanks to my training and the time and energy shown by the directors I’m in a great position to share the knowledge I have gained with the other site managers. Saxonby is in a very good position and I look forward to making a positive contribution to our continuous improvement and growth."

James Wood, director at Saxonby added: “We are delighted to appoint Tony as head of construction, which is a result not only of his hard work and commitment, but our practise of investing in employees who show excellent potential. It is a new position that he will rise to as we embrace change through growth. Tony has been with us from when Saxonby was first established and starting as a machine operator, he has attained an on-site knowledge second-to-none as always builds excellent relationships with our suppliers, contractors and the general public in proximity to a specific development. We believe this promotion will enhance the support and communication between Saxonby HQ and site managers in the continued, successful delivery of our projects.”
