A Shropshire recycling and resale centre has launched a unique initiative aimed at people looking to dispose of their used wooden garden decking.
Reviive will collect the unwanted material and then create a bespoke bench to either sell back to the person or family who supplied it or to the general public through one of its outlets in Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Telford.
The idea came about after the organisation was commissioned to make one for a respite home in Oswestry earlier in this summer. Based on the home’s positive response and realising the potential to further utilise the skills in-house furniture design professional David Williams, MD Julian Price decided to add the product to Reviive’s portfolio.
He said: “Combining his 18 years’ experience as a carpenter and joiner with a degree in furniture design and making, David has already created some fantastic pieces for us from recycled wooden furniture. We hope that by adding a piece of this quality and sturdiness to our range we can potentially tap into the bespoke garden furniture market. Although we are flexible enough to consider creating smaller versions, the product will be a three-seater bench, finished off with brass screws, made from approximately 70 metres of wood, and either bought back as the completed item for £250 or sold for £300 through one of our showrooms.”
